The Phoenix Bridge Club currently has 50 members and holds two sessions each week on Tuesday and Friday evenings throughout the year.  The sessions start at 7.00 p.m. and finish at 10.30 p.m. with up to 36 players (9 tables) in attendance.  The sessions are held either in the Phoenix Suite on the first floor of the Pavilion or occasionally in the Harry Taylor Lounge on the ground floor.  Free coffee/tea and biscuits are provided for players on a self-service basis.

As well as the regular duplicate pairs, heats are staged of simultaneous pairs events run by the English Bridge Union (EBU) and various other organisers.  There are also annual competitions for the Club Pairs Championship, the Dave Lapwood Trophy and the Sheila Maw Trophy.

The events are computer scored.  The club is affiliated to the EBU and Local Master Points are awarded which are credited directly to the EBU.  Separate Tuesday and Friday ladder competitions are run with prizes being awarded to the three players winning the most Master Points each quarter and over the whole of the year (September - August).

A twice-weekly newsletter is available for those members with an internet connection, emailed the day after each session with the results, competition updates and news of forthcoming events as well as other bridge items of general interest.

Table money is £1:50 per player for members and £3 for non-members a proportion of which goes to the EBU as a Pay-to-Play (P2P) fee.  For the simultaneous pairs events, there are additional entry fees set by the organising bodies.  All entry fees are collected during the course of each session.  Anyone wishing to become a member of Phoenix Bridge Club (as an associate member of the Phoenix Sports & Social Club) can do so through the club secretary.  The subscription is currently £15 per annum due 1st October.  Members automatically become player members of the EBU through its universal membership scheme.

Advanced booking is not essential (apart from certain special events) providing you have a partner.  If a partner is required then you should contact one of the following evening organisers: -
